Martha Washington First Spouse Gold Coin
The 2007 Martha Washington Gold Coin was the first issue of the First Spouse Gold Coin Program to honor the First Ladies of the United States. The obverse of the coin, designed and sculpted by Joseph Menna, features a portrait of the First Lady. The reverse of the coin, designed by Susan Gamble and sculpted by Don Everhart, features a younger Martha Washington sewing a button onto her husband's jacket.
Coins were released on June 19, 2007 and limited to a maximum authorized mintage of 40,000. The coins sold out on the first day of issue.
