After two delays, the Letitia Tyler First Spouse Coin finally went on sale at the US Mint on July 2, 2009 at 12:00 Noon ET. This is the tenth release of the series overall.

The coins were priced at $629.00 for the proof version of the coin and $616.00 for the uncirculated version of the coin. Both coins are minted at the West Point Mint and contain one-half ounce of 24 karat gold.

The price of gold has been relatively stable of late, ranging between the $900 to $950 level. With more stable pricing for the coins, sales might be stronger in the opening weeks.

Coinciding with the release of this coin, sales of the Louisa Adams First Spouse Coin came to an end. This coin had been released sixth in the series on May 29, 2008. Sales had lingered on for over 13 months before ending. The final tally of sales indicates 4,223 uncirculated coins sold and 7,454 proof coins sold. These figures mark the mintage lows for coins which are no longer available for sale.
