Do you enjoy the designs used on the First Spouse Gold Coin Series, but can’t afford the high price tag?  The US Mint provides an inexpensive alternative with the First Spouse Bronze Medals.

In coordination with the release of the Uncirculated and Proof Gold Coins for each spouse, Bronze Medals have been produced, which carry an identical design.  The medals carry an affordable price tag of only $3.50 each.  Medals for each of the first six spouses are still available directly form the US Mint at the following page.

These medals are also eligible for grading and encapsulation at third party grading services such as PCGS and NGC.  High grades are selling for premiums on eBay.

There have been several updates to FirstSpouseGold.us.

The release schedule has been updated with all of the latest information. 2008 coins will honor Elizabeth Monroe, Louisa Adams, Andrew Jackson’s Liberty, and Martin Van Buren’s Liberty.

The Elizabeth Monroe coin will be released on February 28, 2008.

The image gallery has also been updated with pictures and descriptions for all of this year’s new releases. Two of the coins feature reproductions of circulating coins from the early 1800’s.
